Ceer launches Women’s Network to empower women in the automotive space
As part of its efforts to celebrate International Women’s Day, Ceer –the first Saudi electric vehicle brand – has launched an initiative that aims to both promote and support women working in the Kingdom’s automotive manufacturing industry. Named the “Ceer’s Women’s Network,” the initiative aims to empower women inside of Ceer by providing them with a platform to connect, exchange ideas and experiences, and develop the skills needed to succeed in the automotive industry.
Launched this March by James DeLuca, Ceer’s CEO, and Abrar AlQurashi, the company’s Head of Human Resources, the first event gathered over 70 of Ceer’s female employees and leadership to discuss the importance of the initiative and to lay out a roadmap for Ceer’s Women’s Network going forward. Attendees joined from every function, including engineering, finance, IT, legal, corporate communications and marketing.
“As an industry, we need to best represent our communities. Women are half the population and they’re the majority of graduates in science, technology, engineering and mathematics in the region,” explained DeLuca as he spoke about why he was sponsoring the initiative. “From my experience, I have seen the passion and drive that women here have to contribute to societal development as part of Saudi Vision 2030. We have an opportunity to build an industry the right way. I want us to encourage the hiring and retention of the best talent in the market and ensure that Ceer is both diverse and inclusive.”
AlQurashi, who is leading the project, spoke about the objectives of the initiative and how future sessions would focus on specific areas for development, learning and growth.
“Ceer’s Women’s Network is aligned with the Saudi Vision 2030 and the Vision’s objectives of empowering women and encouraging them to play a transformational role in building a vibrant society, a thriving economy and an ambitious nation. As a company, Ceer recognizes the critical role that women play in the workforce and their potential to contribute to the economic and social development of the country,” said AlQurashi.
